A spectacular 10th-anniversary production by the Marcos Ayala Tango Company, marking the grand return of one of Argentina’s most celebrated tango companies.
This is a century-long panorama of tango unlike anything you have seen before. Beginning in the streets, alleyways and bars of Buenos Aires, the production journeys back through time, tracing every transformation and flourishing of tango from its birth to its Golden Age.
Structured as a chronological narrative, the production weaves together ensemble dances and intimate duets, bringing to life the love, passion, regret and revelry that surrounded tango in the early 20th century. Every turn and every step carries a story: from the raw intensity of early street tango, to its elegant evolution through the influence of jazz and modern elements, and the tender adagio of former lovers reunited in a bar. Each dance unfolds as a complete and deeply human story of its own.
Meticulously choreographed by world-renowned tango artist Marcos Ayala, TangoII: Buenos Aires brings together the timeless allure of traditional tango and bold contemporary artistry. Immersive stage design and evocative lighting transport audiences into the nightscape of Buenos Aires, while the dancers convey the intensity, depth and elegance of tango through movements charged with extraordinary tension and emotion.
A tribute to the passionate and enduring Golden Age of tango, TangoII: Buenos Aires is both a breathtaking theatrical spectacle and a journey across a century of history—a return to the very origins and soul of tango.
