A major success of West End London theater, Skylight, established in 1995, is an iconic piece in the post-Thatcherian England class struggle. The director, screenwriter and playwright David Hare, who is part of the great English tradition of a political and popular theater, portrays two characters united by a devouring love affair but divided by their social belonging.
On a bitterly cold London evening, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis receives an unexpected visit from her former lover, Tom Sergeant, a successful and charismatic restaurateur whose wife has recently passed away. As the evening progresses, the two attempts to rekindle their once passionate relationship only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires.
This adaptation by Claudia Stavisky will sign the second collaboration of the director with the Shanghai Dramatic Art Center. In 2015, she created for this troupe Blackbird by David Harrower. The show is presented in Beijing, before starting a tour in China.
