SHCAT Junior Orchestra provides an all-round platform for our children to experience the joy of music. Our children will not only learn to enhance their playing skill, but also how to work with others. Aside from different genres of music, they also get to know how to behave on the stage as a professional.

 

Founded in November 2016, our orchestra now has 70 youth musicians, and has presented 3 public concerts and 2 charity concerts so far. This summer concert will be held on June 9th ,2018 with a repertoire of four solos and ten orchestra pieces and one quintet. All the music is arranged or composed by Mr. Gary Sanderson, including traditional Western Classical music, Chinese traditional folk, jazz, ethic music etc.

 

 

Conductor/Music Director: Gary Sanderson

who is from England, graduated in music from a number of English universities before winning the Leverhulme International Music Scholarship to study composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he won a record number of major prizes. Gary worked as a composer/arranger/conductor in London for nine years, working closely with BBC television and radio and the Royal Scottish Opera and spent several years in the employment of Polygram Records. Entering the field of education, he worked as a Director of Music for international schools in the Middle East and Thailand before coming to China where he is Director of Music for all Yew Chung Education schools in China, Hong Kong and USA, constantly travelling between these destinations in the course of his duty.
