Technology has challenged our notions of time and space for decades now, and Room V is no exception. Through virtual reality and artistic expression, dozens of directors and artists have collaborated to bring you an immersive engagement with the film world, game forums, and installations. With the support of Google Spotlight Studios and NYU Shanghai, this exhibition is one that will have you questioning where technology starts and the world we live in ends.
Highlights
《Isle of Dogs》: Behind the scenes
The exhibition goes behind the scenes of the newest Wes Anderson movie "Isle of Dogs" - in VR. The film interviews all the characters (dogs) in a 360-degree imaging of the set.
700 Sharks
Photographed by the expedition team of Lauren Ballesta - a famous French marine biologist and underwater photographer - in the Fakarava atoll of Polynesia, 700 hungry sharks live in packs. After 3 years of filming, the results will completely change your understanding of the world’s greatest predators.
《Blind Vaysha》
The VR short film "Blind Vaysha Blind Girl" tells the tale of a girl born with a terrifying curse - her left eye can only see the past and the right eye can only see the future. Transitioning between Vaysha's perspective and a narrative timeline, the VR short film reflects a life of incredible contradiction in a heart-wrenching tale.
《DEFROST》
The United States Evergreen film director Randal Kleiser made the first ever VR short film "DEFROST Thaw" shortlisted for The Sundance Film Festival. It tells the story of Joan Garisson, a woman awoken in the future from a 30 year frozen slumber. The short film is shot at a full 360-degree angle - watch as a bystander or see the world from JOan's perspective in this bone-chilling cinematic experience.
《Hyperspace》
Gu Ruitian, professor of interactive media art at New York University in Shanghai, has turned the second floor of the museum into an interstellar universe, leading viewers into the new world of the most the world's most immersive systems. Be a part of the re-telling of our galaxy's birth, and watch space unfold before your eyes.
