Let's go... hike along an ancient caravan trail!
This is an awesome overnight trip hiking along an ancient caravan trail! We will be starting our trek at an ancient town, hike around a mountain through bamboo forests, incredible scenery and some hidden villages.
This trail was first built by general Huang Gou for the invasion of Fujian during the Tang Dynasty in around 878 AD, but had gradually became a caravan trail for traders between the two provinces. The total length of the original trail was about 120 kilometers, up until 1932, this was the only path connecting Zhejiang and Fujian. Much of the trail has disappeared due to new roads built. We will be doing a 13K trek on the remains of this ancient trail from Xiaoganling Village, where the ancient passes still exists. On day two, we’ll head to a nice guest house, surrounded by a beautiful reservoir and hike from the mountain behind to off-the-beaten path, passing some small hidden villages with very few tourists.
