What is Fenaki animation?

Fenaki Beijing Animation Week is an animation festival project organized and planned by Chinese animation artists, educators and curators who have the most frequent exchanges with international animation festivals. It was successfully held for the first time in 2019. Fenaki's name comes from the Chinese translation of Phenakistoscope: Fenakistoscope is an ancient animation toy from the West, which is a local interpretation of foreign culture by people who love animation in China.

Highlights from the exhibition:

• The exhibition has six units, including family-friendly animation films and pioneer arts for international animation. You will get a chance to watch the most kid- friendly animated works from Russia, France, China, and Japan.

• Le studio d’animation (Folimage) from France brings lots of kid- friendly animated works this time. The studio has created tons of animation films and series since it was founded in 1981.

• Animated works from Koji Yamamura, a world- class director and producer known for “Satie’s Parade”, “Atama- yama” and “Toshi wo totta wani”, are going to be displayed at the Contemporary Art Unit.
