For Elevator's next Out event in the concrete cave of Xspace, we've invited down our favorite Beijing techno wizard HWA aka Elvis.T; he'll share the decks with MIIIA, plus a first-time back-to-back session from Provoda and Theory of Noise.
HWA aka Elvis.T
DJing since 1998 and producing since 2001, HWA has blown minds around China and Europe with his DJ sets (he's played festivals from Cologne to Buenos Aires, Korea to SONAR in Barcelona, been remixed by Robag Whrume and shared stages with Josh Wink, Joris Voorn and Richie Hawtin). The last few years he's also started touring with live modular performances, including an unforgettable set for China's first Boiler Room session in 2016.
Recent productions have been released on Alex Bau's Credo label and Unjin's ECI Korea. We're longtime fans of the intricate sense of groove and texture he brings to driving 4/4 tracks, his low-key exuberance in the booth, and his ability to make us dance with strange yet familiar sounds.
MIIIA
MIIIA closes the night - the Room 303 boss has been on a fierce rush, with appearances at Japan's Rainbow Disco Club, Epizode in Vietnam, Berlin's Kepler452b, Amsterdam's Red Light Radio + mixes for Rinse FM and Inverted Audio. She's supported acts from Nina Kraviz to Truncate, Recondite to Tin Man; her peak-time sounds have taken a turn to the broken, distorted and acidic, that drove us out of our heads (and onto our feet) at the last Elevator Out; can't wait to hear what fresh tracks she's dug up of late.
Provoda
Theory Of Noise
Warming up will be a combination of two of the city's best - Provoda (of VOID and Aqualung), one of the city's deeper diggers in techno's tougher realms, links up with Theory of Noise, fast-rising Ukrainian electro producer, for the first time. We're (don't tell them) huge fans of their sets individually - looking forward to hear what their joining forces sounds like.
