Kilowatt(KW) is a unit of electrical power and also the core threshold energy of 44KW. It manifests as the cohesion in the music and a club, whilst reflects every single participant’s spiritual strength. When everything comes together, all the energy and connection magnifies the electronic power and opens up a brand new galaxy with myriads of possibilities.

Welcome to the [office block party] — Floor 6 rooftop, the Bund Finance Centre (BFC)

44KW’s "Kilowatt/44OUT" music & art party intend to spread out these possibilities to connect it with a more eclectic scene - to transcend the limits of location and space of a club, sharing and exchanging the energy of Kilowatt in a more organic and genuine way with people, music, art and culture. The universe inside and outside the club will eventually collide together and become the conveyer of the experiences with freedom, novelty, inclusiveness and love.

For the next three Saturdays on 11th, 18th and 25th of July, 44KW will showcase 44 groups of creators from different backgrounds - bands, producers, DJs, sound artists, new media artists, art institutions, sound engineers, graphic designers, VJs, curators, lighting designer, and space designers.

LINEUP (bands)

白纸扇 (Hardcore Raver in Tears)
The predecessor of Hardcore Raver in Tears was AV Okubo, a legendary Wuhan band which was founded in 2006. As a B-class rock band that has released two albums, Big Times and One Product International, AV Okubo has passed through the embarrassment between irony and nostalgia, and the old-time entertainment spirit and experimental reflection at the end of the 20th century.

柏林护士 (Berlin Psycho Nurses)
Post-punk band hailing from Changsha. The four-piece takes cues from Joy Division, Echo & The Bunnymen, and Nick Cave. Above the typical post-punk-ish cold and sharp drum and bass sound, you can sense the narratives through the emotional guitar tones and the storytelling lyrics.
Be prepared to feel the danceable vibe when you see them perform.

解离的真实 (Mirrors)
Psych-rockers Mirrors consists of Aming (guitar/synth/vocal), Bai(bass/synth/backing vocal) , Daniel (drum/synth), together they are a tri-force of magic energy. These three members form a cult, each passing one’s reflection on to the other, resulting in a diverse psychedelic dream, part psychosis, part reality.
绝对纯洁(Absolute Purity)
Bound in contrast and contradictions, Absolute Purity pairs fierce desperation against melancholy and innocence. The band was formed in December 2016 by lead singer Wen Jun (ex-Guai Li), guitarist Tang Ting, bassist Dami and drummer Dawei.

秘密行动 (Stolen)
Stolen are a Sino-psychedelic, Techno-Rock band from Chengdu with 5 Chinese musicians and a French DJ. Just like their name, the music of Stolen combines gloomy atmosphere and tempting groove.

南方酸性咪咪 (South Acid Mimi)
An all-girl-trio from Yunnan formed this band at the end of 2013. A few years ago, South Acid Mimi perked up on the radar of some tastemakers from Beijing-based label Ruby Eyes Records. Their long-awaited debut LP MIMISM was released last year, celebrating their love of life and dance-punk.

蛙池 (Wachi)
Formed in 2017 in Dongguan, Wachi is a four-piece group that started as friends’ weekly meetups. The band is named after the pond in a backyard where the members used to go - Wa means frog and Chi means pond - the tadpoles living inside grow into frogs the next year. They quickly emerge as one of the most exciting new rock bands in China since last year’s new releases.

王长存 (Changcun Wang/Ayrtbh)
Currently based in Hangzhou/Shanghai, China. Wang Changcun(AYRTBH) is a sound artist, electronic musician and computer bug programmer. One of the pioneering explorers in the field of experimental electronic music and computer sound art compilation in China.

汨Mii
Mii only create the sound of the present. Perishes at night and returns with daylight. They will rot your teeth and poison your soul.

Crate Digger, DJ, Promoter. B-side’s set can take you from the beach to the neon-filled room, stirs all sorts of music together including Nu-disco & House. With more than a decade of music listening and record collecting experiences, he is passionate about combining the old with the new.

Ben Huang
Helped to kick-start Beijing and Shanghai's nightlife scene back in the mid-90s and is now regarded as one of the best DJs in China. Huang has become one of the most heavily sought after DJs in Beijing and Shanghai. His sounds impressed European promoters and made him one of the funkiest exports to come out from the Middle Kingdom. Huang became one of the first-ever Chinese DJ to break into the international scene, playing in venues from the Parisian Elysee-Montmartre, Tresor Berlin to the famed Zurich Street Parade, alongside the world’s best. 

CicE
Influenced by the warm rays and salty breeze of South China, Cice's musical journey started dance vibrations with a 4/4 downtown beats. She is good at manipulating the musical atmosphere which leads her audiences to go through a perceptional journey, like flirting with their minds by her blinking groove and progressive vibe. Now based in Shanghai China, Cice's has her unique musical expression. From Deep tech to Techno, from underground club to outdoor festival, she has filled countless floors and her mesmerising sets stay long in the memory of the people she moves.

Doggy
Mingyu Sheh aka DJ Doggy, an electronic music producer with a style that shifts between Deep House, Afro House, and Nu-disco. He has been the resident DJ at Bar Rouge since 2014. In 2005, he formed a Breaks DJ duo "Qingtuan" with fellow DJ Chase Wang, they played in many famous local underground club such as dkd. Then he shifted his music style to Deep House, started his party series "Submarine" with local Deep House DJ/producer Deep19. Meanwhile, DJ Doggy is active in many Chinese local label's club nights, like Asian Vibes, Void, DOT, Footprint, etc. In music festivals like Midi and Strawberry, you can also find him playing deep and groovy 4/4 beats music on the electronic stage. DJ Doggy was nominated for "Best Electronic Musician" by Abilu Music Awards hosted by Douban.com for 3 continuous years, and won the Best Electronic Musician Awards of China in 2012.

Edison Chen
Edison Chen is a DJ from Shanghai, a name familiar to all the regulars in the underground music scene in Shanghai. He specialises in creating psychedelic, atmospheric sounds with Minimal and House beats.

Endy Chen
Endy Chen was in the vinyl game for many years and is the proud owner of a large collection of Asian groove from the 70s. Endy likes to discover unknown artists with tracks that make you dreamy and oh-so-groovy. His finds span all genres, from anime soundtracks to old Chinese wax. 
He has played guest mix sets for radio stations like NTS Radio, NOISEY, RBMA Radio and Meat & Bone in Shanghai. From the year of 2016, he started to diggin’ records oversea also bring records to play in oversea cities like Hong Kong, Jakarta, Manila, Taipei, Singapore, Seoul, Nagoya, Okinawa, Kobe, Osaka and Tokyo. 

Faceless
After finished his study in Japan, he returned to Shanghai and started his music journey. As he falling deeper into Techno music, he decides to take off his human mask and call himself Faceless. His early influence Slipknot shaped his unique music style, which presents you a deep dark vibe just like his profile provides. On the dance floor, you don’t have to feel his music by heart, because your body will crash on it. After sharing stages with Alex Smoke, ANETHA, DRUMCELL, Headless Horseman, VSK and many more, Faceless made his debut at Boiler Room Shanghai in 2019.

Huan Huan
HUAN HUAN (aka Diamond Lil) is an independent music producer and DJ living in Shanghai. She’s one of the most appealing figures in Shanghai’s club scene. As an excellent music producer, she produces music and remixes for many other artists in the scene. She’s good at creating deep atmospheric soundscapes with a cinematic feeling. Her delicate sounds are glued together into vibrating grooves, with the synth sounds from the 90s forming her secret weapon conquering people’s eardrums on dance floors. Benefiting from Shanghai’s blooming club scene, HUAN HUAN’s performance and music work have reached wider platforms and have caught the ears of many overseas acts and labels. Recently released her first EP One Big Bug, her usual deep and exquisite sounds have turned into a more minimalistic and industrial direction in which you can hear the classic Electro grooves, aggressive modern sub-frequency sound design and random industrial noise in the background, bringing together modern techno direction and electro revival.

Javis
Javis starts to gain influences from underground music from 2014. He started to learn and produce pure 4/4 music, focuses on promote electronic music in China, working with many talented DJs. With many years of experience of club residential performances, Javis has gained a reputation as an expert in expressing his emotions with diversified rhythms and beats, which brings the audience wild imagination and vivid story.

LEONWILL
Producer and DJ, members of EGG STUDIO and Swing Cat. Has been performing live since 2015 in clubs like Elevator, Arkham, TAG, Lightning, Echobay, Funkytown, Nu Space. He plays Detroit house, Techno, Techno, Chicago, House, Electro, Nu-disco in a minimalistic yet well-rounded way, combining the old and the new. He has a background in Jazz and saxophone.

Max Shen
Max Shen was born in Shanghai. He runs 44KW club and set up electronic music group 4x4x4x4. He carries out the development of house/ techno dance in China and introduces current electronic music artists exchanges and acts as the DJ of Asians Vibes for Asia techno vanguard group. He also involves in various multimedia performance with artist including Tianzhuo Chen (ASIANDOPEBOYS), Zhang Ding’s 'Enter the Dragon' series, 021 Art Fair and Madeln’s collaborations, etc. He also appeared at multiple music festivals like Strawberry, MIDI, Modernsky and Intro as well as Boiler Room CN.

ollo-MAM
DJ ollo-MAM (aka FunkeeCookee) started her music journey as a teenager. Drawing inspirations from a vast range of different genre including Hip-Hop, funk, soul, jazz, reggae, experimental electronic and rock, she bought her own equipment soon and began to collect records since 2008. She started to set off her DJ career in 2012. When ollo felt a strong feeling to express and share some unique tastes on sound, she went to the stage. In the past ten years, she has shared the stages with many great local artists and international artists and labels such as Egyptian Lover, Eric Lau, Henry Wu, DJ Muro, mndsgn, Jazzy Sport... Besides DJ, ollo is an artist manager & event promoter and she runs record store "Daily Vinyl" and label "Eating Music".

Punx
An artist focusing on the producing of industrial techn0 and performing on hardware live set. He co-founded the electronic music label Prajnasonic in 2016 and released the EP Post Human Sports, followed by Transcend the next year. Over the last year, he has released his latest EP Solid and has been performing at Tresor Berlin and Red Light Radio.

Sissi.Parabola
From being deeply influenced by Techno & House music to pursuing more fresh and interesting sounds, Sissi is not limited to a specific style. Based around the 4/4 beat, listeners can often sense the emotional tension and unconventional rhythm in her set. In just a few years, she has emerged in underground scenes in many cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Xiamen and Suzhou, and serves as a resident DJ in the Bund CeLaVi Shanghai from 2019 to 2020. While playing music attentively, Sissi is continually tapping her potential, and Parabola is gradually taking shape as her name in the field of music production.

SpaceReturn
With the background of being a bassist for more than 5 years before diving into the world of dance music, SpaceReturn certainly lived his music life with the desire for groove. From Funk to Disco to House or even Techno, anything moves body moves soul, and that definitely deserves a place in his crate. Also being an enthusiastic record collector, SpaceReturn loves digging into old dusted crates. Nothing brings more joy than finding a hidden gem in the corner of warehouses. Several years before, SpaceReturn went on to Los Angeles for music education where he was mentored by west coast house music pioneer Mark Bell aka Blakkat, owner of Shaboom Records. Real life experience and industry insight from mentors taught him valuable lessons on both DJ and production technics and business. Now SpaceReturn is back where he’s from, partnering with kidshark and numerous other DJs as group Kidshark Universe to promote quality house/techno events in Shanghai.

TechNico
TechNico had a long history in learning art and this may explain why he became a total electronic music zealot. A familiar face in Shanghai’s dance music scenes, and has been active in multiple clubs, labels and music festivals. He is a passionate collector and digger. He shifts between House and Techno with his very own enchanting, innovative and fusing style.

Temple Rat
Temple Rat music is influenced by sparks of the natural and religious environment she grew up in, ancient oriental rhythms as well as by her favorite 90’s Acid elements. In 2017 she released her first EP on ADE China Pavilion Records, and from 2019 she collaborates with Tokyo producer Ryogo Yamamori with whom she released her latest EP Spring Dawn on Kagerou Records. So far her musical career has brought her to cities all over China and major European festivals like the Château Perché Festival (France), the Summer Story Festival (Spain) and the ADE (Netherlands). Mei has recently performed live sets for Carnival Bizarre at KitKat Club Berlin, the Boiler Room Shanghai edition, Block FM Tokyo and the RedLightRadio Amsterdam.
